Here's a snapshot of the day's events:
Additional Charity Ride Information: The Guardian Knights are back once again to lead our Cycles for Life Charity Motorcycle Ride. All proceeds from the ride will go to Katye's Helping Hands, a local non-profit organization that supports the families of fallen police officers and fire fighters. The ride route will be determined closer to the event date. Free food will be available for all riders before and after the ride along with a gift to all participants. Each rider will be eligible to win a door prize. Door Prize winners will be announced immediately following the ride in the lobby of Gravel Hill UMC. Rain date for the ride will be Sunday, September 24.
Additional ChiliFest & Chili Cook-Off Information: The second annual Palmyra Area ChiliFest & Chili Cook-Off is coming to Gravel Hill for 2017. Last year ChiliFest was held at Trinity UCC and despite the weather, we had over 200 people come out to enjoy the food and the cook-off. Speaking of the cook-off, in 2016 we had ten cooks competing for the best chili in the area. Judges from Babe's Grill, Lisa's Cafe, and Texas Roadhouse awarded the Top 3 Chili Cooks and the people selected the People's Choice. Check out the Palmyra Area ChiliFest Facebook Pagefor last year's photos and up-to-the-minute info on this year's event. Cook Registration is FREE this year for those who enter before August 15, 2017. Registration forms and Sponsorship Forms are available in the "Snapshot" section above.
Additional Community Day Information: Since 2010, Community Day has been an event created for two purposes. The first purpose was and continues to be to provide Palmyra and the surrounding communities with a fun, family-oriented event which is free to everyone who attends. Free food. Free Balloons. Free Games. Free Music. It is an opportunity for fellowship and laughter and memory-making.The second purpose was and continues to be to raise money through good-will donations to help a local charity or family in need. Over the past seven years, on behalf of our LEHNding Hands Outreach, we have donated nearly $20,000 to local organizations, charities, and families in need. LEHNding Hands is the name of our outreach which honors the memory of Kim Lehn, a former member of Gravel Hill UMC who fought valiantly a terrible battle with cancer.
